The following letter was written by our president to the manager of SaveOn Foods

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a student, and also the president of Grande Prairie Animal Rights Crew. I am writing to you today on behalf of the live lobsters and crabs that you sell in your store. Please also know that I will not be shopping at your grocery store until you stop the cruel treatment of these animals.

Upon visiting your store for some groceries, it had come to my attention that you were selling live lobsters and crabs in your store. However, it is a sad sight. Lobsters are naturally free in a huge ocean to roam as they please, but the aquariums in your store are not even close to what they need to live. Lobsters are forced to literally walk on each other just to move in these tanks. There is a very small amount of space, and if you actually look at, not just see, the lobsters, you can see that they are tortured and trapped. Confined in a small area, the over-crowded conditions can drive many creatures to the point of insanity and sometimes even death. This list of creatures includes crustaceans. We (GPARC) are aware that your store has a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan food and beverages and for that, we thank you. But keeping these poor creatures in a tiny, over-crowded tank is unfair and cruel. Please help the world become a more animal-friendly place, and stop the selling of live lobsters/crabs in your store, or at least increase the aquarium size, as well as the other living conditions. Remember, we share the planet with the animals, please be kind.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope you make the right decision. Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Kirsten Roche
